Question 1

What is in Whipped Tallow?

Accepted Answer

Scented jars: Grass-fed beef tallow, castor oil, jojoba oil, vitamin E oil, avocado oil, and essential oil for scent. Unscented: Grass-fed beef tallow, castor oil, jojoba oil, vitamin E oil, and avocado oil.

Question 2

Where is the tallow sourced?

Accepted Answer

From grass-fed, grass-finished cattle in the Hudson Valley, New York. It is rendered at low heat to preserve the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K, and made in small batches.

Question 3

Does beef tallow smell like beef?

Accepted Answer

No. Properly rendered tallow is close to odourless. The only scent is the essential oil, which is there for fragrance alone.

Question 4

How do you use tallow balm?

Accepted Answer

Use a pea-sized amount. Warm it between your fingertips until it turns to oil, then press it in rather than rubbing it on. Straight after a shower is a good moment if it suits your routine, but it works on dry skin too. It finishes matte after a few minutes.

Question 5

How long does a jar last?

Accepted Answer

An 8oz jar lasts most people two to three months, and so does the Trial Pack — three 2oz jars used one after the other. A single 2oz is the try-it size.

Question 6

Why is there no water in it?

Accepted Answer

Water is the first ingredient in most moisturizers, and it requires emulsifiers and preservatives to keep it from spoiling. A waterless balm needs none of that, so the jar is all active ingredients.

Question 7

What does it cost?

Accepted Answer

A 2oz jar is $20 and an 8oz jar is $45 one-time, with volume discounts at two and three jars. Subscribing saves a further 10% and includes free shipping. One-time orders ship free over $45.

Question 8

What is the return policy?

Accepted Answer

14 days from delivery, sealed and unused, for a full refund. You keep any free lip balm.
